Why Laminate? The 3 P’s:
1. Protection: All printed items are subject to at least some environmental elements. Laminating is the perfect way to protect your piece from those elements.
2. Preservation: Laminating provides a very durable of paper coating. Heavily used materials can be maintained for years.
3. Presentation: Laminating gives any printed piece that clean, sharp, polished, and professional look.
What’s So Great About 2-Sided Laminating? Lots! Two-sided laminatinga thermal process in which copolymer plastic film is applied to both sides of printed material (blah, blah, blah)has tons of applications that can be used to add value to any number of jobs. Some typical uses include menus, posters, charts, maps, name tags, point-ofpurchase displays, rolodex cards, business cards, sign, catalogs, manuals, and “field” books that are used heavily and travel with the user.
Lots of Options: Of course, with this new piece of equipment, come many choices. Choose from a variety of film thicknesses (1.2, 1.7, 3, 5, and 10 Mil), several different finishesgloss, matte, delustered, and satin, and other cool options such as a gluable, colored, or stampable finish. Plan ahead, Plan Ahead, Plan Ahead…. I must have said that a million times. And don’t just plan ahead on your own…include us in your plans! It can mean the difference between a perfectly orchestrated job and a crisis-filled, mediocre result with many added costs. Here’s the latest oops we survived. A real stomach-churner for sure…
The wrong size cartons?? You’ve got to be kidding me! That’s exactly what happened to one of our customers recently. Not a big deal, you say? Huge deal. The job? 100,000 high-end catalogs, 4- color, critical cross alignments throughout the text, and a tight schedule (OK, so I guess that part is pretty typical.), and the wrong size cartons for the job. The end result? Lots of extra costs and time for additional handling and stuffing, slowed production, scheduling issues down the line, crazed employees, a very stressed out customer, and high blood pressure. Perhaps the bindery, who can make up samples, should order the cartons.

With over 30 years of experience in the printing industry and extensive involvement with the Printing and Imaging Industries of Maryland, Tony brings with him a vast knowledge of the graphics arts.
